Match ReportThis was the best weather we've had for a match since about April. It should get even better for the next few months, until we get our one-month winter in February. We only had 33 shooters today and not one lady! I guess the women decided it was too nice of a day to spend at the range and the men folk got dragged to the mall or some other nasty destination. Oh well, we expect to see you folks back next month. This was our first month to use squads and it ran very well, based upon comments from the SO's and the shooters that gave us some feedback. We went to squads to get the match going earlier and it certainly helped. We missed out 9:00 am start time, by about 20 or 25 minutes, but we should be able to get on schedule next month. Even missing the target start time, we still got people shooting much faster than we have in prior months. As most people saw, the piers for the new storage barn have been poured and the building should go up on Tuesday. We really appreciate PSC's commitment to the IDPA match by providing us this new, larger facility for construction and storage of props. This will give us the capability to develop new props to make the matches more fun and challenging. Thanks!!As always, we want to express our appreciation to the people who make this match possible. Once again, Eric Achord, Jason Hall and Tim Fisher set up the match on Friday evening, working until 8:00 pm. Marc and I joined them to help, but they had been at the range a good while before I was able to get off the Gulf Freeway parking lot. Thanks are also due to the people that helped us break down the bays at the end of the match. As usual, Eric and Jason did a large part of the final clean-up of the bays and storing of the props. I cannot over-stress how much these guys mean to this match. It is not an overstatement to say that if they had not volunteered to take such an active role in match, the monthly PSC IDPA match would have either been discontinued, or it would be much smaller and more basic than we enjoy today. Thanks guys! We also want to thank Tim Fisher for another great set of scenarios. We always have several people comment about how they enjoyed the scenarios and this month was no exception. You know the scenarios are good when shooters tell you they like them, even thought they might not have shot them as well as they would have liked. Marc Gentine handled registration for us as he always does and also helped with other match projects. Ed Burdzinski did most of the scoring and some of the sign-in when Marc was meeting the late-but-not-too-late ice delivery truck. Thanks guys. We all owe our thanks to this months SO's: Tim Fisher, Danny Stowers, Jeremy Thompson, David Gleason and Rick Brown. Thanks for volunteering folks! Finally, we want to thank all of the shooters for joining us on this beautiful day. I hope to see you guys next week at the TexasCHLforum Day at PSC and/or the Deadly Force & Legislative Update seminar on Friday, Sept. 28th, at 7:00 pm. Please join us again next month and bring a friend. Don't forget, we will offer a Classifier next month, so be sure to send me an email, if you want to sign up. The Classifier is limited to 10 slots, so reserve one quickly. Thanks for a fun and safe match!
