Match ReportWell, so much for a slight chance of rain! When I heard we had a 30% chance of rain, I didn't realize that meant the 30% of the day we were holding our match. What a day for us to start using our computer controlled pneumatic target systems. We had 47 shooters today, 37 for the match and 10 for the Classifier. We had three people who left the match without finishing and pursuant to IDPA rules, we had to delete them from the scores. We had a good number of new shooters, including a group of nice folks from AR15.com. We hope all of the new shooters enjoyed the match and please join us again next month. Tim Fisher is doing a great job as our Range Master and, as always, his scenarios are both fun and challenging. As mentioned earlier, we were able to use our computer controlled pneumatic targets called "Bob & Duck" for the first time in several months. These targets were designed and built by Dan Alford and Randy Allen for the 2006 Texas State IDPA Championship and they really add a lot to the match. We will continue to use them periodically in future matches, and we will probably use the Allen Actuator for swingers and pop-ups. There is no telling what Tim will come up with next, now that he has more equipment available! Thanks to the Staff and SO's!Once again, Eric Achord, Jason Hall and Tim Fisher did the lion's share of the work setting up the match on Friday afternoon and early evening. These guys are working hard to make sure the match is set up before they leave the range, leaving only the hanging of targets left for Saturday mornings. If it wasn't for the risk of rain or a heavy dew ruining the targets, they would do that as well. They also spend a good bit of Saturday doing anything necessary to help the match run smoothly. If anyone living close to the range feels like helping with Friday set up, please send me an email and we'll let you know the schedule. We want to thank our SO's for doing a great job on a hot and rainy day! Our SO's for this month were Steve & Donna Vandermolen, Dave Rosetty, Jeremy Thompson, John Webb, Garry Newton and Danny Stowers. Thanks folks, you did a great job and we appreciate your efforts. If you would like to SO one of the remaining matches for this year, please check the SO Calendar for open slots and send me an email. I'll get you on the list. Squads for future matches. The match got started far too late today and we have decided to start using squads for all future matches to alleviate this problem. Using "open squads" a/k/a no squads requires us to have the SO's shoot the entire match first, so each can then run a bay for the shooters. When our monthly matches were much smaller, this worked fine, but it is becoming a problem. Starting with the September, 2007 match, we will run squads and the number will be determined by the number of SO's we have volunteer. Hopefully, this will always be five (5). This will allow us to have the match start at 8:30 to 9:00 am during Daylight Savings Time when we can set up Friday afternoon/evening. When we go back on Central Standard Time, we'll probably push the starting time back to 9:00 to 9:30. I will post the new starting time on the pscIDPA website as soon as the time has been finalized, so you can check the Schedule section before the next match. Classifier Scores & ClassificationsThe scores for the Classifier are correct, but the Classifications shown are not. I forgot to "commit" the Classifier scores, so the Classification shown is the shooter's Classification before shooting this Classifier. I'll go to the range in the next day or two and correct this mistake. Sorry folks. Thanks for coming! Thanks again for coming and for a safe and fun match. We hope to see all of you back next month. Don't forget, we will be hosting the 2007 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC on Sept. 29th. For more information, please check the News section for this event. Regards,
