FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A great way to show support for our troops!

I have known Dan Allford for a number of years, but for those who don't, let me give you some background.  Dan owns ArcSpecialties and donates a lot of money and time to many different worthy causes and efforts.  He donated a good bit of expertise, supplies, equipment and tool-time to design and manufacture the two Bob & Duck computer-controlled pneumatic target systems for the 2006 Texas State IDPA Championship.  (He and Randy Allen designed and built the systems.)  Dan was also a major player in building the new wall systems we have at PSC-IDPA.  Robo Bad Guy is also his creation and many a shooter has had the chance to hone their skills on this innovative target system.

Many people know the information in the preceding paragraph.  What most folks don't know is Dan's generosity doesn't stop the shooting/training fraternity.  Dan sponsors many unique educational programs for kids relating to robotics.  For quite some time, he as also been purchasing supplies and equipment he sends to our troops in Iraq.  He is doing so again, but this time he is going to allow others to experience the joy and pride of participating in this wonderful effort. Please see a copy of Dan's email to me and a few close friends.  He had no idea I was going to post this, but this is too good of an opportunity for all of us and he agreed to let me pass it on.  Okay folks, let's get behind Dan's excellent project and help it grow!  What better way to show our appreciation for what Memorial Day really means?

Chas.

May 25, 2007 - A message from Dan Allford:

Gentlemen:

I am putting together another shipment to go to the troops in Iraq. The recipient is a young man I’ve known for over 20 years. He is now a logistics officer for the USAF. He just arrived in country and is in a good position to disperse the equipment. Based on previous shipments and feed back from the troops I know that they need OEM Berretta M9 magazines because they are issued aftermarket mags which jam at inopportune times. They also need Bore Snakes, which is a quick gun cleaning system, and they need knives. They may also need nomex underwear, but we are still checking on this issue.

I have a special deal with Top Gun Range in Houston, they sell me everything at cost (the last batch of knives and bore snakes cost me $1600 and the list price would have been $2800). We also have a deal with RSR the wholesaler on Berretta mags we get them for $12 (list $45).

Paul [Howe] has offered to include copies of his book. From the rest of y’all, I am soliciting money. Top Gun has asked that we pay with check so they don’t get any credit card charges. So checks can be made out to me, Daniel Allford, or to Top Gun Range. Send to my home.

I will be out of the country next week. If you call me tomorrow with any pledges you may want to make, and I will order the gear tomorrow. Otherwise, we can include you on later shipments, so there isn’t any rush.

I put stickers on each piece of gear because I want the troops to know that US citizens are supporting them (see below) and ship everything to the Capt. Garzas FPO via US mail.

.

I have been doing this for a number of years and some of the notes I receive are very touching. Below is a sample I received after sending Nomex (flame proof) jackets to the EOD guys. (I was shocked to find that they didn’t have flame proof clothing!)

Thanks to all.
