IDPA Safety Officer (SO) Class Scheduled at PSC
7/23/07 -- Class is scheduled for Saturday,
August 18, 2007
Gary Burris will be teaching an IDPA Safety
Officer (SO) Class at PSC on Saturday, August 18, 2007.
CLICK HERE for information on the SO Class. Please note that
there will not be a range fee at PSC. As noted
on Gary's website, it will be necessary to get a student packet from
IDPA and they
charge $5.
I've spoken to a lot of people over the years who believed you had
to be a veteran IDPA competitor to be a good SO. Perhaps there was
some truth to this belief in prior years when the SO Class was only
about 2 hours long and any other SO could teach it. However, the
Class is now 8 1/2 hrs long, including 3 hrs. on the range. This
means we can take someone with good gun-handling skills and train
them to be an SO. So if you have a few matches under your belt, then
please consider taking this course and helping us with the PSC
matches.
But we're not going to throw you into a match to run bay by yourself
right out of SO school. We will let you work with an experienced SO
for a match or two, perhaps more, until you are comfortable running
a bay in a match.
Since we had to cancel the July PSC-IDPA match, I've received a
number of PM's and emails from people wanting to help. In response,
Marc got busy and contacted Gary to set up an SO Class, Gary agreed,
and the rest is up to you folks. Please consider taking this class
and signing up to SO upcoming PSC-IDPA matches. Taking the course
will not only certify you as an SO, it will also make you a better
IDPA competitor.
This class will be limited to twenty (20) people and we will give
priority to people who commit to be an SO at PSC-IDPA
matches.
To register for the SO Class, just send an email to

Thanks,
Chas. Regards
Chas.
